The 6241 standby generator with service-entrance-rated, 200-amp automatic transfer switch supplies your home with up to 14,000 watts of electricity during a power outage. Featuring fully automatic operation and managed whole-house power, the generator and transfer switch start and run automatically during a power outage to provide your home and family with 24/7 protection. Generac's 6241 standby system includes a 5-year limited consumer warranty.
Residential Standby Generators from Generac run on either LP gas (propane) or natural gas and are factory set for connection to a home's natural gas supply. Conversion to LP gas during installation is fast and simple. The 6241 supplies up to 14kW on either LP or NG. Half-load fuel consumption runs about 1.9 gallons of propane per hour, or 177 cubic feet of natural gas per hour. Required fuel pressure to generator fuel inlet at all load ranges 3.5" - 7" water column for natural gas or 10" - 12" water column for LP gas.
Designed by Generac specifically to power their standby generators, the 992cc overhead valve industrial engine powers the generating unit at a constant 3600 RPM and provides exceptional reliability, sure starts, and a long life. A fully pressurized oil system keeps the engine lubricated while it is running and a 200 hour/2 year interval between oil changes allow for use during extended outages. Low oil and high temperature sensing allow the controller to shut the engine down to prevent damage. Plasma Moly rings and plateau honed cylinder walls reduce oil consumption and extend engine life.
The Generac Evolution Controller is a digital controller that handles all aspects of the 6241 standby system. When utility power is interrupted, the controller senses the outage and starts the generator, then signals the Smart Switch ATS to move the house onto standby emergency power. When utility power is restored, the controller instructs the transfer switch to return the house to utility power and shuts the generator down after a one minute, no-load cool-down period.
Features of the Evolution include a dealer programmable start delay of 2 to 1500 seconds (factory set at 10 seconds) to prevent starts during momentary outages. A weekly exercise cycle, programmable by the homeowner, starts and runs the generator to keep it lubricated and ready to run during an outage. Other features include status display, fault reports, smart battery charging, and programmable maintenance alerts.
The controller keeps engine speed constant and regulates the voltage to supply utility-quality power suitable for use by electronics, even when the generator is supply heavy motor loads such as air conditioners.
Add the Mobile Link option and receive text-message status updates on your cell phone. Access the online dashboard from your smart phone, tablet, or computer browser and schedule maintenance, view alerts, program exercise periods, and handle other generator functions from anywhere you have an internet connection.
An optional wireless monitor lets you view generator status from inside your home, or select the advanced model and access the controller indoors to test the generator, view status messages, or access user programmable features.
The 200 amp, service-entrance-rated Smart Switch is an automatic transfer switch that can manage up to two central air conditioning units without additional hardware. The switch typically installs between the electric utility meter and the main service panel which allows the Smart Switch to select between utility power for normal operation or standby generator power for emergency operation.
The addition of an optional Power Management Starter Kit and Power Management Modules (PMM) allows the switch to control up to four additional high-demand loads such as well pumps, electric dryers, and electric water heaters using load shedding technology.
Generac's standby generators use a revolving magnetic field - a brushless design that prolongs generator life and increases generator efficiency. Skewed stators reduce electrical noise for cleaner, smoother power under heavy loads. The efficient design helps maximize motor starting capability to start air conditioners and other large motors.
With an eye-pleasing design and low noise levels, Generac standby generators fit into any neighborhood setting. The 14kW generator produces about 66db of noise, on par with most central air units. Built to withstand environmental conditions, the powder coated, steel enclosure includes a locking lid for access to the generator and prevent tampering. It measures 48 inches wide, 25 inches deep, and 29 inches high and sits on a gravel bed or concrete slab.

Before reviewing my standby generator from Norwall I would like to comment on dealing with customer service and the delivery. Customer service was absolutely the best. They satisfied every question I asked. The delivery service was right on time when I was told they would arrive. You can't beat lift gate service. If your in the market for any product that Norwall sells buy from them, not their competitors, you won't be disappointed. I will follow up later with my generator review. As far as rating Norwall and the delivery service I give both a big 5 stars.

Ordered the generator and took advantage of the 2% e-check savings. Even with the 4-day hold (which protects everyone) the entire process was smooth. Had a first generation Generac that finally gave up and parts were getting harder to come by and $$$, so the 14kW was the perfect replacement. Got it on Thursday and installed on Saturday. Nice to have that security and peace of mind back knowing that this generator will take over during a power loss.

Just installed the 14kW unit less than a month ago. Since then it was run twice. First time for an hour and the last time it ran for 2 days. Without it, we wouldn't have been able to get the portable plugged in, in time and our basement would have flooded. Pops on in 10 seconds and the unit paid for itself in those 2 days of running and keeping us dry!! Highly recommend!!!!

I've been waiting two years and have finally purchased my 14kW generator. Ordering was a breeze with the help from Norwall. They even included a free cold weather kit accessory and gift card too. The unit was installed fast and professional. It exercises once a week as scheduled. So far so good!

I am 86 and I lose power here in Albany NY many, many times in winter and summer. We must be on an older main service. My son was so tired of loading up his portable unit that he decided to spring for 2 standby Generacs. It has been the best thing we have ever done !!!
My son did the ordering through Norwall and could not believe the knowledge and patience of the gals he dealt with. The install went well by our electrical contractor who also mention what a good buy we both got on the two 14kW units from Norwall along with the black Friday specials. I have already needed this unit 2 weeks ago with a 3 hour outage. It was a steady minus 10 to zero for a few days and the Generac ran great and my TV and electric stove worked great as well. Norwall/Generac/and thanks to my boy... Have given me such piece of mind here in the snow belt. It is another needed component that enables me to stay independent in my own home and avoid assisted living. The cost of the entire setup is a steal as far as i am concerned . Thanks again to the gang at Norwall and the 14kW Generac life saver !!!!
I am using my sons computer here in Slingerlands as I am not to savvy about computers but wanted to express my gratitude to Norwall who made things pleasant for my son to help me.

This has been one of the best customer service companies I have ever dealt with. Real people that are pleasant and knowledgeable. It's rare not to have 16 options on a auto answer apparatus and then get someone that can't answer your questions.
The units came without damage and the girls told me what to look for as far as issues like the composite base being smashed by forklifts. I got all my black Friday specials as advertised. Truly a great experience. I must have asked at least 20 different questions of the associates and they always got back right away if they were not sure. The generator is just what we needed and is quieter than i expected.

This model and Norwall have been great so far. I did have a hitch with the fuel selector. When we tried to fire it up the first several times, it wouldn't turn over. Went back and forth for a long time with Generac (lots of time on hold) who said it must be a fuel supply issue. Consultation with my propane company suggested that wasn't the case. Just for yuks, I turned the selector back to NG and then to LP again. After that, it fired right up! None of this, of course, is a reflection on Norwall who have been very helpful and professional.
Helpful hint: This thing is HEAVY! I opted to pick it up at the carrier's local depot. They put it in my pickup truck. I backed the truck over the pad so the generator was exactly above it then used a rented engine hoist to lift it off the bed. Drove the truck away and lowered it down gently onto the pad. Piece of cake! I had a helper just in case but one person can do it this way.

Fully automatic, great engine-to-generator size ratio, starts quickly and reliably. In my opinion, it's the best value of the Guardian lineup.

The unit installation was done by a professional electrician and plumber (NG) which I recommend. The test was conducted and the unit started within about 5 seconds and the electricity came back on in about the same time. My unit is installed NS vs. EW (to exhaust to the yard and not my deck) on patio pavers and then secured to the ground (the unit also has its own platform). The unit is relatively quiet...more so than I expected. It is neat and attractive. I recommend this model.
