I bought a Norwall Generac 6500WE earlier this year and we lost power Monday night through today, Thursday morning 11/01/2012, in New York State. The generator worked like a champ and I may be surrounded by generators before winter (Norwall and Generac should pay me as a consultant/advertizer!). Powered well pump, furnace, fridges, microwave, toaster, most lights and enjoyed dominating generator discussions with real men.

GOOD GENERATOR - DIFFICULT TO ORDER PARTS !

PURCHASED TWO GENERAC GENERATORS, MODEL 6500e GENERATORS, 2011 MODEL, ONE FOR MY PARENTS AND ONE FOR MY SISTER. I DID MY RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING AND DETERMINED THIS WAS THE BEST MAKE AND MODEL FOR MY PARENTS AND SISTERS NEEDS. UNFORTUNATLY, THE AC/DA ADAPTER , THE CHARGER UNIT THAT KEEPS THE BATTERY CHARGED, IS MADE WITH A VERY FLIMSY THIN WIRE AND IT BROKE ONE DAY. TRYING TO PURCHASE ONE OR ORDER ONE IS AN EXERCISE IN FRUSTRATION. THREE DEALERS TOLD ME THEY DON'T STOCK THE ITEM AND COULDN'T LOCATE THE PART TO ORDER IT. I THEN SEARCHED THE WEB AND NO ONE MAKES THE ITEM. ITS JUST A SIMPLE POWER CORD THAT PLUGS INTO THE WALL TO KEEP THE BATTERY CHARGED.
AND NO HOME DEPOT, LOWES, RADIO SHACK, TARGET CHARGERS, EVEN THE UNIVERSAL ONES, DON'T FIT PROPERLY. I AM FRUSTRATED BEYOND IMAGINATION. NEXT GENERATOR WILL BE A SEARS MODEL. MY 3500 SEARS GENERATOR IS 16 YEARS OLD AND ORDERING PARTS IS VERY SIMPLE.
PART NEEDED IS AC/DC ADAPTER MODEL YP-018 (120V-60HZ, 20W, 14VDC 800 MA, 11.2 VA). MADE IN CHINA OF COURSE.

Norwall Power Systems promised delivery in 6-8 weeks but machine was delivered in 3 weeks. The delivery driver was wonderful. He unpacked the generator, so that I could inspect it.
I have run the generator for only a short time to check it out. It provided power for my whole house, without the air conditioner. The electric start is a blessing.
I bought it as insurance against the terrible service of Commonwealth Edison (power outages up to three days).
