Saved by the generator

I recently bought the Generac GP5500 Model 5939 with free shipping, the generator took about 3 business days to arrive at our home. It was delivered to my house on a Friday, and we had a major wind storm/tornado come through our town on Sunday evening. Thank God I had installed the wheel/handle kit that Saturday morning, so when the storm hit, all I had to do was fill up the gas tank and insert the quart of oil that shipped with the unit and we were ready to go. I was truly astonished, all I did was set the choke to full, and with one pull the generator started the very first time, nothing like my lawn mower. I hooked up some 120v extension cords to run the essential items in our house (2 refrigerators, 1 freezer) and another chord to the 240v outlet to power our travel trailer where our family stayed during the power outage. The storm took out our electric power for over 36 hours, and the generator ran for over 42 hrs the entire time (only shutoff to refuel periodically - would run about 10 hours on a tank of gas). This thing really saved us and made a bad situation somewhat bearable. I cannot comment on long-term reliabitility, since I've only had the generator about 6 months, but for something right out of the box it worked very well without any hassles. Thanks Generac. A romance come alive with lights?

My wife and I bought this generator for my parent?s 50th wedding anniversary party. It was outdoors on a beautiful summer night at the park where they first got engaged. The only source of power at the park was an outlet 30 feet away so our next option was to buy a generator and fuel it ourselves. We kept the generator on a cement pad and ran extension cords to the party area where we had lights, music, hot food and a mini fridge for drinks. It was a great night! My parents were extremely thankful and now we use the generator for all kinds of events in the family.

We were surprised at how light weight this generator was when we picked it up. We take it camping with us every summer to power almost everything including boiling water, cooking food, providing light, the use of electronics and much more. This generator is the perfect size for a great price.

This portable generator works great on the construction site because of it's durability and reliable power. We also use it at home as an emergency backup system. One night when the lights went down we ran that generator for 10 hours straight at a 50% load. There is nothing better than having power when you need it most Ill tell ya.
