Generac Protector Series 30kW Automatic Standby Diesel Generator
The 30 kilowatt Protector Series standby generator from Generac ends worries that a power outages will leave your home or businesses without electrical power. The RD03024 is a permanently installed, diesel-powered generator that works automatically during a power outage to keep the lights on and most other circuits operating. Working in conjunction with an automatic transfer switch (sold separately), the system starts and runs without human intervention just moments after utility power is lost. Generac guarantees Protector Series Standby Generators with a 5-year limited manufacturer's warranty.
Ships factory direct: single phase option allow approximately 3-4 weeks, and 3 phase options allow appoximately 5-6 weeks.
Code Ready ensures your generator meets local building and electrical codes with a line of features and accessories essential for diesel generators.
The externally vented and filled fuel tank is UL/CUL-142 listed and integrated into the base of the Protector. It provides security from leaks with double-walled construction designed to collect fuel in an outer tank, preventing contamination of the environment. If a leak occurs, the generator shuts down and issues an alarm.
Accessories like fuel-spill collection and recovery systems, emergency fuel cut off, low-fuel alarms, and lockable fuel caps are just a few of the options available for meeting local requirements.
The turbocharged in-line, 2.4 liter diesel has cast-iron cylinder heads, aluminum pistons, and overhead valves for a long life of trouble-free and reliable performance. This 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled power plant includes shutdown protection from high oil and engine temperature, low oil pressure, and over-speed/over-crank conditions that might damage the engine.
Operating under a full electrical load, the engine consumes about 2 3/4 gallons of ultra-low-sulfur diesel per hour. At fifty percent electrical load, the 62 gallon fuel tank will keep the generator running for more than 36 hours.
Generac's state-of-the-art Evolution Controller manages all generator functions and controls. It detects a power outage the instant it happens and waits two to 1500 seconds (dealer programmable to prevent starts during momentary outages), then starts the engine and signals the automatic transfer switch to disconnect the utility lines and supply power from the generator.
When utility power returns, the transfer switch disconnects the generator and reconnects the electric utility. The engine runs in a no-load cool-down mode for about a minute, then shuts down.
The controller panel features a two-line, multi-lingual display for reports and alerts and an LED backlit keypad that provides generator status at a glance. Functions include programmable maintenance alerts, exercise periods, status updates, and extensive fault reporting in addition to engine monitors and power regulation. The smart battery charger will detect a failing battery before it can no longer start the generator and alerts the owner to install a new batter.
Access the Evolution Controller from anywhere with the optional Mobile Link accessory. An Internet-browser dashboard makes it possible to view generator status, alerts, and reports, or program maintenance and exercise periods from inside the building or almost anywhere in the world on tablets, smart phones, and computers. Mobil Link also provides text-message updates on your cell phone.
Basic and Advanced Wireless Monitors are another option that eliminate trips outdoors to check generator status, and the advanced model brings the generator keypad and display indoors for access to programmable functions and report viewing.
The Protector generates power with a directly connected, heavy-duty revolving-field generator that produces utility-grade power suitable for sensitive electronics and powerful electric motors. Generac's design provides for clean, noise-free power with a steady electrical signal for trouble-free operation of household and commercial appliances.
A neighborhood friendly appearance and noise level makes The Protector suitable for installation in most suburban neighborhoods and small business districts. The aluminum enclosure sits above the integrated fuel tank and the entire unit measures 96 inches wide, 56 inches high, and 35 inches deep. Installation requires a prepared concrete pad positioned five feet or more from the building.
A window for viewing the controller display and main circuit breaker make it possible to check generator status without opening the cabinet. Sound levels compare to central air units at about 70db.
